What Is the Difference Between Counter-Height and Bar-Height Stools?

Counter-height stools typically have a seat height between 23 to 26 inches. They are designed to fit standard kitchen counters, usually 34 to 36 inches high. 

Bar-height stools are taller, with seat heights of 28 to 30 inches, and are suited for bar tables that are 39 to 42 inches tall.

How Do I Measure for the Right Stool Chair Height?

First, measure the distance from your floor to the underside of your counter or bar surface to find the correct stool chair height. Then, subtract about 8 to 10 inches from that measurement. 

This will give you the ideal seat height for comfortable legroom and good posture.
